JUAN DE'PREY, a listed artist, born in Puerto Rico in 1904,

lived and worked in New York City, where he died in 1962.

He is considered a prominent Puerto Rican artist and is

referred to as "The Puerto Rican Gauguin."  His works are

also compared to those of  Mexican muralists.

 

His art has been exhibited in the Whitney Museum of American Art,

the Museo del Arte in Puerto Rico, as well as other museums and

galleries.     

 

This lovely gouache painting of a Caribbean beach scene was created

by the artist in 1950.  The colors are beautiful and vibrant.  

 

The art is complemented by its original very handsome and solid

wormy chestnut frame.
